Construction company clerk held over RM4 mil CBT

KUALA LUMPUR – A female clerk with a construction company was arrested by police yesterday in connection with a criminal breach of trust case involving RM4 million.

Ampang Jaya district police chief Mohamad Farouk Eshak said the 39-year-old suspect was detained when she came to the district police headquarters following a report lodged by a company director last November.

“The suspect is believed to have made several transactions, in stages, to her personal accounts, involving a sum totalling RM4 million,” he said in a statement today.

“She also had access to the company’s bank account because the complainant (company director) was on sick leave from January 2018 to June 2020. No other individual had access to the funds.”

He said preliminary investigations revealed that two of the woman’s accounts were used in the transfers.

The suspect has been remanded for four days to facilitate investigations under Section 408 of the Penal Code. – Bernama, September 7, 2021
