KUALA LUMPUR – Walk-in Covid-19 vaccinations in the Klang Valley will cease after September 15, said newly minted Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Datuk Seri Dr Adham Baba.
He added that from September 16 onwards, Klang Valley residents who have yet to get vaccinated can do so in selected public health clinics.
The reason behind this decision, he said, is because of the small number of unvaccinated residents and low turnout.
He added that the list of the clinics will be announced soon.
“The lower daily vaccination figures in Malaysia is a good sign. I expect the vaccination rate is expected to show a slowdown in the coming weeks,” Bernama reported him as saying in Putrajaya during a job handover ceremony with Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin.
“Walk-in vaccinations in other states will be carried out. The public are advised to follow the announcement issued by state Health Departments on the latest walk-in information.”
Meanwhile, Dr Adham said as of yesterday, 69.9% of the total adult population in the country have completed their Covid-19 vaccination.
The National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme aims to inoculate 80% of the country’s adult population by the end of the year. – The Vibes, September 8, 2021
