[UPDATED] Covid-19 cases up slightly to 21,176

KUALA LUMPUR – Malaysia saw a slight rise in Covid-19 cases to 21,176 today to take the cumulative number of infections to 1,940,950. 

Yesterday saw 19,307 cases.

Health Director-General Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the country recorded a further 341 deaths yesterday, taking the cumulative fatality to 19,827. 

Of the 341 cases, 102 of the victims were brought-in-dead.

Dr Noor Hisham said at present, 1,310 patients are currently admitted to the intensive care unit, with 773 of them requiring breathing support.

On top of the list is Sarawak with 3,734, followed by Selangor (3,595), Johor (2,297), Sabah (2,246), Penang (1,939), Kedah (1,808), Perak (1,366) and Kelantan (1,254).

Pahang recorded 853 cases, Terengganu (776), Melaka (485), Kuala Lumpur (467), Negri Sembilan (252), Perlis (77), Putrajaya (21), and Labuan (6).

A total of 90% of adults have received at least the first dose of the vaccine, while are 71.3% are fully vaccinated.

This takes the total percentage of the population vaccinated across the country to 51.1%, while 64.5% have received at least one dose.

Active clusters stand at 1,455, taking the cumulative number to 5,059, with 37 new ones identified today.

A total of 3,604 clusters have ended. 

Of the 37 new clusters, a staggering 30 of them involve workplaces, five are community clusters, while two others involve high-risk groups. – The Vibes, September 10, 2021
