KUALA LUMPUR – Umno’s “No Anwar, No DAP” stance has again been called into question following Pakatan Harapan’s willingness to cooperate with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

Umno Supreme Council member Datuk Mohd Puad Zarkashi said given PH’s cooperation, it means the government will fulfil the opposition’s wishes unconditionally.

“This means the ‘No Anwar, No DAP’ chants are no longer relevant,” he said in a Facebook post today.

He referred to Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin’s offer of an olive branch to the opposition bloc, which is led by Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, days before his resignation as prime minister.

Puad said those who are ignorant may say the rhetoric still applies given that DAP and PKR were not given executive positions, adding that PH policies will form part of the government’s agenda.

“What is the use of sharing the government, but party policies cannot be fulfilled? It is understood that PH rejected participation in the National Recovery Council (NRC).

“They don’t want to sit under Muhyiddin, whom they ousted. They are asking for positions to supervise NRC. This means that PH controls the effectiveness of NRC.”

Yesterday, the PH presidential council expressed its willingness to cooperate with Putrajaya on the seven proposed reforms announced by Ismail Sabri.

The pact confirmed that a meeting was held to discuss the contents of a memorandum of understanding, as well as to provide suggestions for reform.

In a tweet today, Lembah Pantai MP Fahmi Fadzil made it clear that no MoU has been signed as the discussions are ongoing, and said another meeting will be held this evening. – The Vibes, September 12, 2021
