KUALA LUMPUR – Federal Territories Pejuang chief Datuk Seri Khairuddin Abu Hassan’s claims that Pakatan Harapan (PH) had sidelined other opposition parties in its negotiation process with the government is baseless, said Seremban MP Anthony Loke.
Loke, who is also DAP national organising secretary, said PH’s top brass had discussed with all opposition leaders regarding the memorandum of understanding (MoU) process.
“In fact, last evening, a special briefing was held by PH leaders with Pejuang president Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir on the contents of the MoU.
“Representatives from Warisan were also invited to attend the session but they were absent,” Loke said in a Facebook post today.
The Seremban MP said he was made to understand that both Pejuang and Warisan were not ready to sign the MoU with the government.
“PH respects their stand. However, this does not mean we can’t cooperate with these parties on other issues,” Loke said.
He added that PH will continue to work with all MPs from the opposition bloc in Parliament.
“This includes Pejuang, Warisan and independent MPs in the new special select committee which will be set up as part of the commitment that needs to be implemented by the government in the MoU which will be signed this afternoon,” he said.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob will be signing a MoU with PH leaders in the Parliament banquet hall at 5pm.
In a joint press statement, representatives from both sides of the divide said all relevant parties have agreed that the MoU will be signed to return political stability to address the Covid-19 threat and the need for economic recovery.
Those attending are Ismail Sabri as well as PH party leaders Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim (PKR), Lim Guan Eng (DAP), Mohamad Sabu (Amanah), and Datuk Seri Madius Tangau (Upko).
Earlier, Khairuddin accused opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and PH of being self-centred and that they do not genuinely uphold the spirit of friendship.
In a statement, he also claimed that Anwar and PH are untrustworthy, and it is their nature to use the support of others for their own benefit and nothing more. – The Vibes, September 13, 2021
