KUALA LUMPUR – Malaysia has logged another 413 deaths, 104 victims of which have been termed as “actual deaths”, over a seven-day average.
According to data in the CovidNow website, there were another 176 brought-in-dead (BID) cases as Malaysia inches closer to the 4,000 BID mark, with a total of 3,958 BID cases.
The latest deaths bring the country’s toll to 21,124.
While the national death rate per 100,000 people stands at 6.6, Penang logged a slightly higher rate at 17.0 compared with yesterday, followed by Johor (11.6) and Sabah (9.3).
Meanwhile, the deaths’ breakdown by states are as follows – Selangor (111), Kedah (54), Johor (52), Sabah (39), Kelantan (36), Penang (33), Negri Sembilan (29), Pahang (15), Perak and Melaka (13 each), Kuala Lumpur (eight), five each in Terengganu and Sarawak, and Perlis, Labuan, and Putrajaya (0).
Malaysia yesterday recorded a decline in daily Covid-19 cases to 16,073 from yesterday’s 19,198.
This takes the nation’s cumulative total to 1,995,771 since the pandemic began.
In the lead is Sarawak with 3,522 infections, followed by Johor (2,030) and Selangor (1,947).
Sabah saw 1,649 cases, Penang (1,243), Kedah (1,191), Kelantan (1,070), Perak (1,011), Pahang (878), Terengganu (704), Kuala Lumpur (398), Melaka (206), Negri Sembilan (156), Perlis (41), Putrajaya (16) and Labuan (11).
In a statement yesterday, Health Director-General Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said of the 16,073 new cases today, 233 (1.5%) were in categories 3, 4, and 5, while 15,840 (98.5%) were in the less severe categories 1 and 2.
He added that the national infectivity rate was below 1.0, at 0.98.
Sarawak topped the list at 1.18, followed by Terengganu (1.08), Johor (1.04), Perak and Perlis (both 1.03), Kelantan and Penang (both 1.02), and Pahang (1.00).
Malaysia has seen an overall 5,153 Covid-19 clusters, including 32 new ones – 16 of the fresh clusters were related to the workplace, 14 to the community, and one each to high-risk groups and education institutions. – The Vibes, September 14, 2021
