KUALA LUMPUR – Malaysia logged another 463 Covid-19 deaths, of which three were “actual deaths” from yesterday.
According to Health Ministry data, there were 108 brought-in-dead (BID) cases – and 64 were detected in Selangor and 12 in Kedah.
Meanwhile, Penang still tops the rate for deaths per 100,000 people at 17.1, inching up from yesterday’s 17. The state had 23 reported deaths and six BID cases as at 11.59pm yesterday.
Johor’s rate stands at 11.6 with 38 reported deaths (two actual deaths) and four BID cases. It was followed by Sabah’s rate of 8.3. The East Malaysian state has 16 reported deaths and five BID cases.
Lastly, the state with a rate higher than the national average of 6.5 is Kedah with 8.2. The state has 54 reported deaths (one yesterday) and 12 BID cases.
However, Selangor still topped the death list with 255 reported ones and 64 BID cases.
This is followed by Perak with 24 reported deaths, Kelantan (19), Perak (24), Kuala Lumpur (12), Perak (7), Sarawak (7), Pahang (6), Melaka (4), Terengganu (3), and Negri Sembilan (2). Labuan, Putrajaya and Perlis have no reported deaths.
Reported deaths are backdated cases, according to the ministry.
Meanwhile, 33.7% of the adult population remain unvaccinated while 66.3% have at least one dose and 54.1% are fully vaccinated.
Yesterday, Malaysia’s cumulative caseload breached the two-million mark with another 15,669 cases.
The latest cases make for a total of 2,011,440 since the pandemic began.
In the lead is Selangor with 2,632 fresh cases, followed by Sarawak (1,983), Johor (1,974), Sabah (1,784), Penang (1,651), Kelantan (1,406) and Kedah (1,207).
Perak saw 856 cases, Pahang (763), Terengganu (483), Kuala Lumpur (411), Melaka (329), Negri Sembilan (143), Perlis (30), Putrajaya (14) and Labuan (3).
Health Director-General Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said 1,266 cases are currently in intensive care, with 689 requiring breathing assistance.
Out of the total 15,669 cases reported yesterday, only 283 (1.8%) are in Categories 3, 4, and 5, while 15,386 (98.2%) are in Categories 1 and 2.
He said the country has recorded a total of 5,182 clusters, including 29 new ones yesterday. – The Vibes, September 15, 2021
