KOTA KINABALU – Sabah will start inoculating teenagers aged between 12 and 17 from tomorrow onwards, said Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Mohd Noor after the state cabinet meeting here today.
“This is also in line with the Health Ministry’s stand to get as many adolescents in this high-risk group to be vaccinated and in anticipation of the reopening of schools starting October 3,” he said in a statement today.
Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin had, during a working visit to Sabah on September 6, said the vaccination of adolescents can start once the majority of the adult population in the state completes their vaccinations.
He added that once 80% of the adult population in Sabah has been fully vaccinated, which will be some time at the end of October, only then will those under 18 years old be vaccinated.
As of yesterday, 51.4% or 1,431,093 of the adult population in the state has been fully vaccinated. – The Vibes, September 15, 2021
