KOTA KINABALU – A church, eight houses, and three vehicles in Kg Babah Bunduon Penampang were destroyed by fire this morning.
Sabah Fire and Rescue Department in a statement reported that they received a call on the blaze at 8.48am today and had the situation under control by 9.20am.
“The structures on 0.5 acres of land were 100% razed by the fire. The church was 4.5 by 12 metres, and what is left of the structure is about a one-metre-tall cement wall, as the rest of the wall made from plywood were engulf in flames.
“Three vehicles, a Mitsubishi Triton, a Proton Iswara, and a Toyota van were also destroyed by the fire,” the report said.
The Sindang Injil Borneo Church was still a semi-temporary structure built by the local villagers.
Furthermore, 10 families had also lost their homes when eight houses were completely destroyed in the incident.
Penampang Fire Station with assistance from Kota Kinabalu Fire Station completed their operation at 11.06am after the firemen had ensured that the location was safe. – The Vibes, September 18, 2021
