KUALA LUMPUR – Malaysia has logged another 324 Covid-19 deaths, of which seven were categorised as “actual deaths” recorded yesterday.
According to Health Ministry data, there were 70 brought-in-dead and backlogged cases.
The 324 deaths included backlogged cases in July (60), August (56) and September (208), said the Health Ministry. It also brings the death toll to 23,067.
As for the total reported deaths yesterday, Selangor topped the list with 146, followed by Johor (54) and Penang (25).
Kedah logged 24 deaths, followed by Perak (15), Sabah (13), Kelantan (12), Sarawak (11), seven each in Melaka and Kuala Lumpur, and five each in Negri Sembilan and Pahang.
Perlis, Terengganu, Labuan and Putrajaya did not record any death cases.
Of the seven “actual deaths”, two victims each were logged in Johor, Negri Sembilan and Pahang, and one in Selangor.
In the BID category, Selangor had 36 cases, followed by Penang (7), Sarawak (6), Sabah (5), Johor (4), three each in Kelantan and Kedah, two each in Melaka, Negri Sembilan and Perak.
Meanwhile, Penang still tops the rate for deaths per 100,000 people at 18.0, and in second spot is Johor with 12.6, followed by Sabah (8.1) and Kedah (7.8). The national rate stood at 6.6 as of 11.59pm yesterday.
Some 56% of the population in the country have been fully vaccinated, while 67.2% got at least one dose and 32.8% remain unvaccinated.
Yesterday, Malaysia saw a drop in Covid-19 cases to 15,549, taking the cumulative total to 2,082,876.
Sarawak topped the list of new infections with 2,929, followed by Johor (2,208), Selangor (1,995), Sabah (1,395), Penang (1,375), Perak (1,120), Kelantan (1,214) and Kedah (1,073).
The states and Federal Territories that saw less than 1,000 cases are Terengganu with 755, followed by Pahang (634), Kuala Lumpur (382), Melaka (263), Negri Sembilan (131), Perlis (33), Putrajaya (31) and Labuan (11).
Meanwhile, bed occupancy in intensive care units (ICUs) stands at 76%, while occupancy of non-ICU beds is at 68%. – The Vibes, September 19, 2021
