[UPDATED] S’wak, S’gor log most Covid-19 cases among today’s 14,954

KUALA LUMPUR – Sarawak and Selangor are the two states to log more than 2,000 daily Covid-19 cases today at 2,707 and 2,028, respectively.

The country also recorded another 14,954 cases, bringing the cumulative caseload to 2,097,830.

States with more than 1,000 cases are Johor (1,948), Kelantan (1,420), Sabah (1,356), Penang (1,259) and Perak (1,222).

Kedah confirmed another 809 cases, followed by Pahang (705), Terengganu (671), Kuala Lumpur (383), Melaka (207), Negri Sembilan (144), Perlis (76) and Putrajaya (19).

Labuan has no new cases.

According to Health Director-General Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah, the ICU capacity as of yesterday 5pm stood at 72% while non-ICU bed usage is at 67%.

He said the country also saw 23,469 recoveries, taking the total discharged to 1,863,922.

In his daily statement, he said 1,194 cases were under intensive care, with 665 requiring breathing assistance.

Of the 14,954 reported cases today, only 243 (1.6%) are under Categories 3, 4, and 5.

The remaining 14,711 (98.4%) are in Categories 1 and 2, he added.

Dr Noor Hisham said the country has seen a total of 5,282 clusters, including 19 new ones today.

Clusters that have ended stand at 3,934, while 1,348 remain active.

He said 13 of the new clusters today are from workplaces, four came from the community, one from a detention centre, and another from a high-risk group.

The new cluster with the fewest infections is the Tg Laboh Tiga Setengah workplace cluster in Batu Pahat, Johor, with six cases, while the Industri Jalan Haji Kamisan workplace cluster in Segamat and Batu Pahat, Johor, saw the most infections at 124. – The Vibes, September 19, 2021
