KOTA KINABALU – All non-Muslim religious houses in Sabah can open but those with chronic illnesses are not allowed to enter.
According to the latest standard operating procedures issued by the Sabah Community Development and People’s Well-being Ministry, it was said that churches and temples may only house 30% of devotees at a time.
Only those who are fully vaccinated are allowed to enter while children’s participation at the premises is not encouraged.
Scheduled classes (such as Sunday classes) and sharing of equipment or tools in the premises is also not allowed.
Operating hours for religious houses are permitted from 6am to 8pm daily, while weddings under two-hour sessions and attendees at 30% of the premise’s capacity is allowed.
State Covid-19 spokesman Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun said in a statement that the state recorded 1,356 new Covid-19 cases and 35 deaths today.
Sandakan recorded the highest number of Covid-19 related deaths at 14 followed by Kota Kinabalu (9), Keningau (3), Lahad Datu (2), and one case each in Penampang, Tawau, Ranau, Nabawan and Kunak.
He also said that Kota Kinabalu recorded the highest number of 220 cases with the bulk of it involving 78 oil rig workers.
As of yesterday, 56.6% of Sabah’s adult population have been fully vaccinated (1,560,178), and 15% or 63,836 of Sabah’s residents aged 12 to 17 (426,000 people) have received the first dose. – The Vibes, September 19, 2021
