KUALA LUMPUR – Malaysia saw a substantial decrease in Covid-19 cases today to 10,959 from yesterday’s 13,104.
Health Ministry Director-General Tan Sri Noor Hisham Abdullah said this takes the cumulative number to 2,209,194.
In a statement, he said the country also recorded 16,430 recoveries today, bringing the total discharged to 2,005,942.
Separately, the Health Ministry's CovidNow website reported 278 deaths today, including 99 brought-in-dead cases.
While Selangor finally dropped under 1,000 cases with 979, Sarawak topped the list with 2,723 infections, followed by Johor (1,226), Kelantan (983), Penang (793), Sabah (751), Pahang (739), Perak (713), Terengganu (691), Kedah (660), Melaka (346), Kuala Lumpur (176), Negri Sembilan (110), and Putrajaya (18).
Labuan saw no new cases and the nation saw 12 new imported cases.
Earlier on Twitter, Dr Noor Hisham said non-intensive care bed occupancy stands at 59%, while ICU bed occupancy is at 68%.
His updated statement said there were a total 980 cases under intensive care, with 579 cases requiring breathing assistance.
Out of the 10,959 cases, only 205 (1.9%) fell under categories 3, 4, and 5, while the remaining 10,754 (98.1%) are listed under the less severe categories 1 and 2.
Dr Noor Hisham said the country has seen a total of 5,432 clusters, including 19 new clusters today with 1,165 active clusters and 4,267 clusters that have ended.
Nine of the new clusters today are related to workplaces, and eight are from the community, one from a detention centre, and another from the high-risk group.
The Kg Bendang Ikan Hilir community cluster in Pasir Mas saw the least infections with five cases, while the Sawit Sg Gayung workplace cluster in Rompin, Pahang saw the highest with 38 cases. – The Vibes, September 27, 2021
