7 categories exempted from MyTravelPass to head overseas

KUALA LUMPUR – The Immigration Department has granted seven exemption categories for MyTravelPass (MTP) approval to travel out of the country starting next month.

In a statement today, Immigration Department Director-General Datuk Khairul Dzaimee Daud said from Friday, individuals belonging to the seven categories below need only show all relevant travelling documents to Immigration officers at any national entry or exit point.

The categories are:

1.      New students who received an offer to study abroad and two chaperones.

2.      Students studying abroad and two chaperones.

3.      Students taking examinations abroad and two chaperones.

4.      Emergencies such as death or the critically ill.

5.      Visiting spouses abroad where the marriage was registered overseas.

6.      Sports events, seminars and meetings.

7.      Humanitarian missions.

Khairul added that any Malaysian and foreign diplomats are already exempted from MTP. – The Vibes, September 29, 2021
