[UPDATED] Covid-19: 12,735 fresh cases, 2,487 in Sarawak

KUALA LUMPUR – Malaysia recorded 12,735 Covid-19 cases today, pushing up its cumulative total to 2,245,695.

Health Director-General Tan Sri Noor Hisham Abdullah said the country also recorded 17,725 recoveries today, bringing the total discharged to 2,245,695.

In a statement, he said Sarawak logged the highest caseload at 2,487, followed by Selangor (1,940), Johor (1,241), Kelantan (1,232), Kedah (1,033), Sabah (993), Perak (913), Penang (763), Terengganu (726), Pahang (697), Kuala Lumpur (258), Melaka (194), Negri Sembilan (132), Perlis (97), Putrajaya (28) and Labuan (1).

The Health Ministry earlier said that 924 cases are under intensive care, while 512 required breathing assistance. 

Dr Noor Hisham said that from the 12,736 cases recorded today, only 220 cases are from Categories 3, 4, and 5 while 12, 515 cases were from Categories 1 and 2. 

The country has seen a total of 5,477 clusters since the pandemic began last year, including 15 new clusters today. 

Clusters that have ended are at 4, 389 while 1,088 remain active.

Dr Noor Hisham said nine clusters are sourced from the workplace, five are from the community, and one is from the high-risk group. 

The cluster with the lowest new infections is the Kg Simpang Tiga Banggol Petaling community cluster in Pasir Mas, Kelantan with eight cases while the Dua Jalan Puchong workplace cluster in Selangor, Petaling recorded the highest infections with 79 cases. – The Vibes, September 30, 2021
