KUALA LUMPUR – Covid-19 cases in Malaysia finally returned to four-digits, with 9,066 infections logged today.
Health Director-General Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said this takes the cumulative total to 2,277,565.
He said Sarawak led with most infections, logging 1,418, followed by Selangor (1,000), Johor (981), Terengganu (827), Kelantan (796) and Sabah (767).
Kedah recorded 670 cases, followed by Perak (669), Pahang (630), Penang (620), Melaka (206), Kuala Lumpur (201), Perlis (66) and Putrajaya (24).
Labuan reported no new cases.
Dr Noor Hisham also said the usage of non-intensive care beds in the nation's hospitals is at 52%, while occupancy of ICU beds is at 58%.
On overall vaccinations, he said 72.7% of the population has received at least one dose and 62.8% has completed their vaccinations.
He added that 94.3% of the adult population has received at least one dose, while 87.2% are fully immunised.
In a statement, Dr Noor Hisham said that of the 9,066 new cases today, 159 (1.8%) are in Categories 3, 4 and 5, whereas 8,907 cases (98.2%) are of the less severe Categories 1 and 2.
He said that the country also recorded 14,454 recoveries, bringing the total discharged to 2,100,565.
He reported that 835 patients are under intensive care, while 535 require breathing assistance.
Meanwhile, 12 cases were imported.
Dr Noor Hisham also reported that the infectivity rate (R-naught) for the nation is below 1.0 at an R-naught of 0.89.
Topping the list is Perlis with 1.05 and Putrajaya (1.00) while the infectivity rate in other states are below 1.0.
In addition, he said that the country has seen a total of 5,507 clusters, including six new clusters today.
A total of 4,499 clusters have ended, leaving 1,008 active.
