KUALA LUMPUR – Umno secretary-general Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan has confirmed the issuance of termination letters to two former Melaka assemblymen yesterday, while talk of an emergency being declared in the state may be brought to the cabinet tomorrow.

“It is up to the prime minister. There will be a cabinet meeting tomorrow, maybe it will be brought up.

“Wait for the decision. I expect this big decision will be decided in the cabinet meeting,” he told a press conference in Parliament today.

This comes after former chief minister Datuk Seri Idris Haron (Sg Udang) and Datuk Nor Azman Hassan (Pantai Kundor) cited a loss of confidence in fellow party man Datuk Seri Sulaiman Md Ali as chief minister.

Ahmad said after discussions with key Umno members, a decision was made on Tuesday to drop Idris and Nor Azman as party members.

“On October 4, there were two Umno assemblymen who made statements that we have all come to know.

“The next day, after discussions with the party’s leadership and lawyer, I went to Melaka and met the Tangga Batu Umno division leader.

“As per the party’s constitution, we have dropped them as party members.” – The Vibes, October 7, 2021
