KUALA LUMPUR – The three Melaka excos who resigned have to return government assets, including official vehicles, said caretaker chief minister Datuk Seri Sulaiman Md Ali.
He was quoted as saying by Bernama that Datuk Seri Idris Haron, Datuk Noor Effandi Ahmad dan Datuk Norhizam Hassan Baktee are no longer excos.
“They have informed us that they have resigned and I have accepted their resignation letters, so has Governor Tun Mohd Ali Mohd Rustam.
“So, they are no longer excos and all assets such as cars have to be returned to the state secretary accordingly,” Sulaiman told reporters after attending an event in Tangga Batu, Melaka.
He was asked to comment on Norhizam, former agriculture, development and cooperatives exco, who has yet to return government assets.
On the status of the State Assembly Development and Coordinating Committee (Japerun) building, he said all 28 elected representatives have to hand over the keys, but not immediately.
“I’m not saying they have to vacate Japerun immediately. They are given a week, no matter opposition or government reps. So there is time to remove their personal items.
“It is the government’s right. If a week is not enough, it is up to the discretion of the district officer.”
Meanwhile, state secretary Datuk Kamel Mohamad in Jasin said only Idris had returned government assets while Noor Effandi applied for a postponement until Monday.
Last Monday, Idris led three other Melaka assemblymen to withdraw their support for Sulaiman, citing a loss of confidence over his handling of the state government.
