KUALA LUMPUR – New Covid-19 cases dropped even further today at 6,709 reported infections, bringing the cumulative total to 2,346,303 cases, said Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah. 

The health director-general said the country also recorded 10,833 recoveries today, bringing the total up to 2,206,502. 

He also said that 762 cases required intensive care while 398 required breathing assistance. 

As announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob yesterday, 90% of the adult population and 65.2% of the total population have received the full two doses of Covid-19 vaccination. 

Dr Noor Hisham said that from the 6,709 infections reported today, 144 were from categories 3, 4, and 5, while 6,565 cases were from categories 1 and 2. 

The country has seen a total of 5, 597 clusters since the beginning of the pandemic, including nine new clusters today. 

Clusters that have ended are at 4,803 while 794 remain active. 

Dr Noor Hisham said four clusters come from the community, with two clusters each in the workplace and high-risk groups. One cluster was also detected in an education centre. 

The cluster with the lowest new infections is the Jalan Dato’ Hamid workplace cluster in Pasir Mas, Kelantan with five cases, while the Jalan Pekaka Lapan high-risk group cluster in Petaling, Selangor recorded the highest infections with 27 cases. – The Vibes, October 11, 2021
