KUALA LUMPUR – The Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) has clarified that an actor arrested for drug possession in Kuala Kangsar, Perak, recently is not a member of its Volunteer Reserve Team.
In a statement today, the RMAF public relations division said the confusion arose when some media outlets, bloggers and social media users used photographs of the male suspect dressed in a pilot’s uniform.
“The photograph of the actor was taken when he played an RMAF pilot in a drama titled Gempur Wira on RTM in 2018.
“RMAF is upset by the use of this photo in an article related to a criminal offence, which tarnishes our image.”
Media outlets, bloggers and social media users are advised to issue the necessary corrections.
The 28-year-old suspect was among three men arrested on suspicion of drug abuse during a raid on Sunday.
The trio pleaded guilty at the Kuala Kangsar magistrates’ court yesterday to being in possession of cannabis and methamphetamine.
The court allowed bail for the three and set December 1 for case remention and submission of the chemistry report. – Bernama, October 13, 2021
