Daily Covid-19 cases rise slightly to 7,950

KUALA LUMPUR – New Covid-19 cases today increased slightly to 7,950 reported infections, bringing the cumulative total to 2,361,529 cases, said Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.  

In a statement today, the health director-general said the country also recorded 10,832 recoveries, bringing the total to 2,227,889.  

He also said 725 cases required intensive care, while 380 required breathing assistance.  

Dr Noor Hisham said from the number of infections reported today, 133 were from categories 3, 4, and 5, while 7,817 cases were from categories 1 and 2.  

The country has seen a total of 5,624 clusters since the beginning of the pandemic, including 13 new clusters today.  

Clusters that have ended are at 4,862, whereas 762 remain active.  

Dr Noor Hisham said three clusters were detected from the community, with six clusters in the workplace and one from a high-risk group. One cluster was detected in an education centre, another in a higher education institute registered under the Education Ministry, and one in a detention centre.  

The cluster with the lowest new infections is the Persiaran Lavender Dua education centre cluster in Seremban, Negri Sembilan with five cases, while the DTI Bekenu detention centre cluster in Subis, Sarawak, recorded the highest infections at 48 cases. – The Vibes, October 13, 2021
