Another 12,456 Covid-19 recoveries, 8,084 infections logged

KUALA LUMPUR – A total of 12,456 Covid-19 recoveries were recorded today, surpassing the 8,084 new infections, said Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.

The health director-general in a statement said this brings total recoveries to 2,240,345.

Dr Noor Hisham said of the fresh cases, 21 were imported.

“A total of 98.4%, or 7,951 of the new cases today, involve individuals in Categories 1 and 2, while 1.6%, or 133 cases, are in Categories 3, 4 and 5.”

He said there are 702 patients in intensive care, of whom 367 require respiratory assistance.

Another 17 clusters were identified, nine of which are linked to the workplace, community (4), high-risk groups (3) and education institution (1).

Dr Noor Hisham said in preparation for the endemic phase, the Health Ministry is upgrading services at Covid-19 Assessment Centres (CACs).

The ministry is also implementing the establishment of CACs by private medical practitioners, where applicants must be certified and registered under the Private Healthcare Facilities and Services Act 1998, among other requirements. – Bernama, October 14, 2021
