KUALA LUMPUR – Malaysia’s Covid-19 caseload exceeded the 6,000 mark today, as the Health Ministry reported 6,210 infections today.

In a tweet, Health Director-General Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the country has a lower positivity rate compared to yesterday’s 5.5%.

Today, 145,258 individuals underwent screening, bringing the positivity rate to 4.28%, lower than the 5% threshold set by the World Health Organisation.

Malaysia has a total of 2,413,592 Covid-19 cases.

The nation's infectivity rate or R-naught stood at 0.86, as Negri Sembilan and Kuala Lumpur recorded the highest value at one.

Putrajaya recorded an R-naught value of 0.99, Selangor (0.95), Malacca (0.93), Perlis (0.92), Kelantan (0.89), Johor (0.87), Terengganu (0.86), Kedah (0.84), Perak (0.84), Penang (0.84), Pahang (0.81), and Sarawak (0.79), while Labuan recorded a value of zero.

As for clusters, 591 remain active including the six new ones identified today.

Three clusters concerning the community were identified in Selangor, Sabah, and Negri Sembilan with a total of 74 infections.

Meanwhile, the ministry identified two worksite clusters in Negri Sembilan and Selangor with 65 cases.
