SHAH ALAM – The Kuala Lumpur branch of the Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM) will conduct a census on the homeless at Rumah Transit, Dang Wangi, and Anjung Singgah, Chow Kit, in the federal capital on October 27.
The Office of the 2020 Census Commissioner in a statement said it is to ensure that no one is left behind in the census process, with face-to-face census activities continuing until October 31.
It said DOSM implemented a programme in Klang, Selangor, last night to get in touch with homeless individuals at the state level.
“Apart from Selangor, DOSM also conducted a census on the homeless in Kelantan, Sarawak, and Perlis simultaneously.
“After obtaining permission from the National Security Council, DOSM is allowed to carry out the Malaysia 2020 Population and Housing Census (Malaysia 2020 Census) face-to-face, and the ‘drop-off and pick-up’ method during the National Recovery Plan period that will include the homeless,” said the statement.
It added that the Malaysia 2020 Census will continue via computer-assisted telephone interview (Cati) until October 31 to cover those who have yet to complete the census process.
Individuals who have yet to do so are urged to cooperate by providing the needed information through the Cati system on its portal or go in person to the nearest state DOSM office. – Bernama, October 23, 2021
