KOTA KINABALU – Warisan in principle is open to working with the ruling Sabah coalition but questioned the need to put it on paper similar to the MoU signed at the federal level.
Newly appointed Warisan information chief Datuk Awang Ahmad Sah Sahari said it is baffling that a separate MoU should be signed in the state when no other states are doing the same.
Besides, he said Warisan sees no need for a signed bipartisan understanding as alliances comprising national parties have forced state reps to heed the needs of their leaders at the federal level.
“The political scenario in Sabah is not the same as in Peninsular Malaysia. The problems and issues faced by the people in Sabah are not the same as the problems faced by the people in Peninsular Malaysia.
“As political leaders in Sabah, the local leaders must put Sabahans first, not the needs of their West Malaysian counterparts,” he said in a statement today.
Awang said this in response to the Sabah Progressive Party invitation to Warisan to sign a MoU between the ruling Gabungan Rakyat Sabah alliance with the opposition Pakatan Harapan in the state. – The Vibes, October 27, 2021.
