KUALA LUMPUR – Malaysia today saw a drop of 206 Covid-19 cases to 5,854 from yesterday’s 6,060 caseload, bringing the cumulative infections in the country since the pandemic began to 2,466,663.
According to a statement, Health Director-General Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said there were 6,715 recoveries, bringing the total discharged to 2,368,634.
He added that of 5,854 new cases today, 79 (1.3%) are in Categories 3, 4 and 5, whereas 5,775 (98.7%) are in the less severe Categories 1 and 2.
He reported that 570 patients are under intensive care, while 293 require breathing assistance.
Meanwhile, he said 13 cases were imported.
He added that the infectivity rate (R-naught) for the nation is below 1.0 at an R-naught of 0.95.
On top of the list is Negri Sembilan with 1.04, Kuala Lumpur (1.00), Putrajaya (1.00) and the rest of the states and federal territories are below 1.0.
In addition, he said the country has seen a total of 5,765 clusters, including two new clusters today.
A total of 5,327 clusters have ended, leaving 438 active.
He said one of the new clusters today is related to high-risk groups in Perak, while the other is from a workplace involving Alor Gajah, Jasin and Melaka Tengah in Melaka. – The Vibes, October 30, 2021
