Covid-19 daily tally sees slight rise to 5,071, 63 deaths logged

KUALA LUMPUR – Malaysia saw a slight increase in its daily Covid-19 caseload with 5,071 infections recorded today, compared with yesterday’s 4,676.
 
Health Director-General Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said this brings the cumulative number of infections to 2,481,339 since the pandemic began.
 
In a statement, he said a total of 5,372 recoveries were recorded today, bringing the total discharged to 2,385,432.
 
Only 15 cases were imported, he said.
 
Meanwhile, the Health Ministry’s CovidNow website reported 63 deaths today, with 18 cases brought in dead (BID).
 
Dr Noor Hisham said 557 cases are under intensive care, while 300 require breathing assistance.
 
Of today’s 5,071 cases, only 121 (2.4%) are in Categories 3, 4, and 5, while the remaining 4,950 (97.65) are in Categories 1 and 2.
 
He said the country has seen a total of 5,781 clusters, including five new clusters today.
 
Clusters that have ended are at 5,377, while 404 remain active.
 
Dr Noor Hisham also said three of the five new clusters seen today are related to workplaces, one is from an education institution, and another is from the community.
 
The Triang Bera workplace cluster in Bera, Pahang, logged the most cases at 35, while the Jalan Tuanku Dua workplace cluster in Lembah Pantai here saw the least with six infections. – The Vibes, November 2, 2021
