KUALA LUMPUR – New Covid-19 cases increased slightly to 5,291 infections, taking the cumulative number to 2,486,630, said Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.
The health director-general said the country recorded 4,947 recoveries today, bringing the cumulative recovered cases to 2,390,379.
In a statement today, Dr Noor Hisham said 286 cases required breathing assistance, with 72 under investigation as potential Covid-19 patients.
A total of 545 cases require treatment in the intensive care unit, with 11 suspected of being Covid-19-positive.
The country has seen a total of 5,788 clusters since the beginning of the pandemic, including seven new clusters detected today.
Dr Noor Hisham said from the 5,291 cases reported today, 5,216 are from Category 1 and 2, while 75 are from Category 3, 4, and 5.
Clusters that have ended stand at 5,398, whereas 390 remain active.
Three clusters came from the workplace, while a detention centre, community, religious event, and private educational institute registered under the Education Ministry sourced one cluster each.
The Tumbalang community cluster in Ranau, Sabah, recorded the highest infections with 56 cases, while the DTI Jalan Duta 2 detention centre cluster in Kepong, Kuala Lumpur, recorded the lowest infections with five cases. – The Vibes, November 3, 2021
