KUALA LUMPUR – New Covid-19 cases remain on an incline, recording 5,403 new infections today, bringing the cumulative daily cases to 2,516,255, said Health Director-General Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.
A total of 5,311 recoveries were recorded, making the total recovered cases 2,425,054.
Dr Noor Hisham said that 545 cases are in intensive care units (ICUs), with 270 requiring respiratory assistance.
“Of the 5,403 cases reported today, 102 (1.9%) involved patients in categories 3, 4, and 5 while 5,301 (98.1%) involved patients in categories 1 and 2,” he said.
He noted that the nation has seen a total of 5,817 clusters since the beginning of the pandemic, including five new clusters detected today.
Clusters that have ended are at 5,510, while 307 remain active.
Four of the newly detected clusters were sourced from the workplace, and one was identified at a higher education institute.
The Jalan Bypass 2 higher education institute in Segamat, Johor, recorded the highest number of infections with 46 cases, and the Jalan Lazat Satu workplace cluster in Lembah Pantai, Kuala Lumpur recorded the lowest number of cases with 12 infections. - The Vibes, November 9, 2021
