KUALA LUMPUR – Malaysia saw a decrease of 255 Covid-19 cases today to 5,551 from yesterday’s count of 5,806, bringing the cumulative infections in the country since the pandemic began to 2,649,578.
According to a statement, Health Director-General Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said there were 5,301 recoveries, bringing the total discharged to 2,556,554.
Dr Noor Hisham said of the 5,551 new cases today, 78 (1.4%) are in Categories 3, 4 and 5, whereas 5,473 (98.6%) are of less severe Categories 1 and 2.
He reported that 499 patients are under intensive care, while 269 require breathing assistance.
Meanwhile, he said 23 cases were imported.
He also reported that the infectivity rate (R-naught) for the nation is below 1.0 at an R-naught of 0.96.
On top of the list is Perlis with 1.12, Putrajaya (1.01), Selangor (1.01), Kuala Lumpur (1.00), Johor (1.00), Penang (1.00), and the rest of the states and federal territories are below 1.0.
In addition, he said the country has seen a total of 5,965 clusters, including six new clusters today.
