KUALA LUMPUR – Individuals rushing to take advantage of the hefty discounts on police summons are experiencing setbacks as the MyBayar Saman payment portal has been inaccessible since yesterday.
In a statement, the Traffic Enforcement and Investigation Department (TEID) admitted that the police summons payment portal is down due to heavy user traffic and advised users to access MyBayar Saman during off-peak hours.
However, at the time of writing, the portal is still down and there has been no updates on official police information channels on the matter.
“Individuals wanting to pay their summons can head to the PDRM counter in KLCC, traffic summons counters at district and state police headquarters between 8.30am and 4.30pm, seven days a week during the 100 days Keluarga Malaysia celebration (December 9-12),” according to the statement.
Netizens have also taken to social media platforms to air their frustration over the inaccessible portal, with many complaining that they tried to access it during the wee hours this morning without much success.
The Keluarga Malaysia celebration has drawn criticism over the government’s decision to organise a mass event amid Covid-19 daily caseloads hovering between 5,000 and 6,000 and the detection of the Omicron variant cases.
So far, the Health Ministry has yet to address the brickbats.
Selected traffic summons are given discounts of up to 80% from December 9 to 12 in conjunction with the Keluarga Malaysia event, as announced on Wednesday.
TEID said the discounts are not applicable to accidents, overtaking on double lines, using the emergency lane, running red lights, overtaking dangerously, non-compoundable offences, offences under trial, heavy vehicle offences and modification of vehicle exhausts.
Individuals or companies can register through the official PDRM portal or the MyBayar Saman portal or download the application.
The public is also urged to adhere to Covid-19 standard operating procedures when making payments at the counters and encouraged to make payments online. – The Vibes, December 10, 2021
