KUALA LUMPUR – Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor’s corruption hearing at the high court here has been postponed again seeing her Covid-19 colour code is still orange on her MySejahtera app, indicating she is a close contact.
Her lawyer Datuk Jagjit Singh told the court his client’s MySejahtera colour code has yet to run blue, and the matter was confirmed by the court registrar, reported Harian Metro.
He added that today is Rosmah’s 70th birthday and she was ready to attend the proceedings and was waiting in the car earlier.
Following this, judge Mohamed Zaini Mazlan vacated today’s proceedings and instructed the defence to give an update on Rosmah’s MySejahtera status next Monday.
However, senior deputy public prosecutor Datuk Seri Gopal Sri Ram suggested the proceedings be done in a hybrid manner, with Rosmah testifying online from her lawyer’s office or her residence with the defence and prosecution teams present.
Zaini said he would consider it, even though there are no provisions in the law to allow this.
He then set December 23 and 24 and January 13 and 14 to continue the trial as two more prosecution witnesses are yet to testify.
Rosmah’s trial was postponed on Tuesday after her MySejahtera app showed that she was a Covid-19 close contact.
Zaini had said the court complex’s standard operating procedures only allow individuals with a blue MySejahtera status to enter the building, and will not allow those who have had close or casual contact with Covid-19 cases into the premises.
He instructed the defence counsel to check and give an update on Rosmah’s MySejahtera status, as the trial should be continued today.
Rosmah faces a charge of soliciting RM187.5 million and two charges of receiving bribes totalling RM6.5 million from Jepak Holdings Sdn Bhd managing director Saidi Abang Samsudin through her former assistant Datuk Rizal Mansor, as a reward for helping Jepak Holdings secure a RM1.25 billion project to equip 369 schools in rural Sarawak with solar hybrid power. – The Vibes, December 10, 2021
