KUALA LUMPUR – Majlis Amanah Rakyat (Mara) has been instructed to conduct detailed investigations into a bullying incident where a male student was seen being punched by a group of his peers, said Datuk Seri Mahdzir Khalid.
In a statement today, the rural development minister said Mara takes the issue very seriously.
“I have instructed Mara’s management to conduct detailed investigations regarding this case, and we will not compromise to any bullying misconduct.
“Strict action would be taken against the students involved based on existing provisions and rules at the Mara management level, if the viral video is genuine.
“Mara will not turn a blind eye to any action or misconduct that is against humanitarian ethics,” Mahdzir said.
The video uploaded by Twitter user @Ekax_ has been making its rounds on Twitter since midnight.

According to the series of tweets, it is believed that the bullying incident took place at a boarding school in Perak.
In the viral video, at least seven male students were spotted taking turns to punch the victim.
Meanwhile, Perak police chief Datuk Mior Faridalathrash Wahid said based on preliminary investigations, it has been confirmed that the incident took place at a boarding school in Kuala Kangsar, Perak, at approximately 1am-2am on December 9 involving seven suspects and a teenager aged 13.
In a statement, Mior said the force had received a report on the case from the school principal at 1pm.
“Police have taken action by asking all the students involved to give their statements to assist in the investigation.

“The case is being investigated under Section 147 of the Penal Code and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998,” he said.
He advised the public not to make speculations over the incident to avoid confusion and possibly anger the community, which could interfere with police investigations. – The Vibes, December 10, 2021
