MIRI – The Association of Churches in Sarawak (ACS) stressed that its members do not endorse or promote any political parties or contesting candidates for the state election.
ACS chairman Archbishop Simon Poh today said the association calls on all Christians to go out and vote based on their conscience before God.
“We call on all to vote to fulfill their duties and responsibilities as citizens. They must vote based on their conscience before God.
“We in ACS do not endorse any political parties or candidates,” he said in a statement today.
Poh, who is also the head of the Catholic Archdiocese of Kuching, said ACS urged voters to take into consideration factors such as the integrity of parties and candidates, the welfare of the community, racial and religious freedom, and equality for all when they cast their votes.
ACS is made up of all the Christian churches in Sarawak.
Meanwhile, the early voter turnout for Sarawak, today stood at 53% as of 11am.
According to the Election Commission, as many as 23,050 military and police personnel in Sarawak are set to cast their ballots..
