KUALA LUMPUR – The Sg Semenyih water treatment plant resumed operations once again at 12.30pm following a zero threshold odour number reading taken at the plant.
The positive development comes after state water company Air Selangor was forced to shut the plant down after detecting suspected diesel odour pollution.
According to a tweet by the state media arm, the recovery of water supply to the affected areas will resume in stages.
“The Selangor Water Management Authority and Air Selangor took around four hours to resolve the disruption,” Media Selangor said.

According to Air Selangor earlier today, following the shutdown of the Sg Semenyih plant, a total of 463 areas in five Air Selangor regions – Petaling (172 areas), Hulu Langat (54), Sepang (194), Putrajaya (23), and Kuala Langat (20) – are expected to experience unscheduled water supply disruptions.
“Air Selangor has activated its emergency response plan to provide emergency water supply assistance to the affected consumers.
“A total of 81 water tankers will be mobilised to the affected areas and critical premises,” the company said on its Facebook page today.
The company has pledged to provide updates progressively from time to time through its official communication channels such as the Air Selangor app and its Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter accounts.
