KUALA LUMPUR – A total of 3,086 victims have been evacuated as flood waters rise in Kuala Langat, Klang, and Sepang – following continuous heavy rain in Selangor since yesterday.
According to state Fire and Rescue Department director Norazam Khamis, the flood victims have been evacuated to 30 relief centres.
Bernama reported Norazam as saying that 20 centres have been opened in Klang to accommodate 2,604 victims.
He noted that most of the victims were evacuated to relief centres at SK Telok Gong and SK Johan Setia, accommodating 681 and 793 individuals respectively.
The rest of the centres are in Sepang and Kuala Langat, with 482 victims seeking shelter there.
Following non-stop rainfall since yesterday, the floods – which have inundated the district of Klang, Kapar, as well as parts of Shah Alam and Kuala Langat – have expanded into various parts of the country.
Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari today announced on Twitter that 17 temporary relief centres will be made available to flood victims.

Meanwhile, volunteers from Team Selangor and Selangor Volunteer have been mobilised to provide assistance to those affected.
The Malaysian Meteorological Department also issued further warnings of bad weather today.

Continuous heavy rains are expected in areas like Gua Musang, Kelantan, as well as Cameron Highlands, Lipis, Jerantut, Maran, and Kuantan in Pahang.
