MELAKA – Mobile and fixed-line communications throughout Melaka, especially in the flood-hit areas, are generally in good condition and unaffected, said the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC).
According to its Melaka director, Muhammad Luqman Ali, there were however reports from telecommunication service providers that the towers in Kg Sg Jernih, Lubok China, and Brisu in Alor Gajah had experienced temporary disruptions.
“This was due to Tenaga Nasional Berhad having temporarily shut down the power substations at both locations due to safety reasons,” he said, adding that telecommunication services at both locations resumed operations today.
He said no reports were received on disruptions in communication services from any other locations affected by floods in Melaka.
The state MCMC, he said, would continuously monitor and take remedial measures together with the service providers in the event of a telecommunication disruption, especially involving mobile lines.
The Alor Gajah district was worst-affected by the floods as of this evening, recording 320 flood evacuees, involving 15 areas, including Pekan Lubok China, Ramuan China Besar, Kg Belimbing Dalam, and Kg Taboh Naning. – Bernama, December 20, 2021
