SHAH ALAM – Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari has revealed that there are 10 families in Kg Bukit Changgang who have refused efforts to evacuate them to temporary shelters as they fear for the safety of their property and personal effects.
Speaking to a press conference today, the Sg Tua assemblyman said that he had personally tried to convince them, but the victims refused to leave their homes.
“They made that choice because they want to protect their property in those localities. I have been informed of complaints from volunteers.
“The Shah Alam police chief had also issued a statement to coordinate efforts and take extra measures so members of the public will not have to worry about the security of their property, nor take measures of their own,” said Amirudin.
So far, 30,632 flood victims from 4,672 households have been evacuated to 203 temporary shelters throughout the state.
