KUALA LUMPUR – The Road Transport Department is offering flood victims free replacements of driving licences, road tax documents and vehicle ownership certificates.

Transport Minister Datuk Seri Wee Ka Siong said the department has not imposed a deadline for this policy.

He added that there is no set period for the victims to replace the documents as they have other important matters such as cleaning up their houses and attending to family matters.

Wee said flood victims who want the exemption have to lodge police reports on the loss of documents before going to RTD offices.

“There is no need to rush to do this. I have asked RTD to help those affected and if possible we want to put up an RTD counter later for the victims,” he said at a press conference after launching the Kuala Lumpur International Logistics and Transport (KiLAT) Excellence Award in Putrajaya today.

The fee to replace a driving licence is RM20, while a copy of road tax for motorcycles is RM20 each and RM50 for cars.

He said agencies under the Transport Ministry, including RTD, the Land Public Transport Agency and the Marine Department, have been mobilised to help flood victims. – The Vibes, December 21, 2021
