KUALA LUMPUR – New applications and updates for Bantuan Keluarga Malaysia (BKM) start today until January 31, said Finance Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz.
Those who are eligible and are not yet included in the government database can submit their applications, while existing recipients who have changes in information will have the opportunity to make updates.
“BKM in 2022 will benefit more than 9.6 million recipients with an allocation of RM8.2 billion, compared to 8.6 million recipients with an allocation of RM7 billion under Bantuan Prihatin Rakyat (BPR) last year,” he said in a statement today.
He added that recipients of BPR 2021 and Covid Special Assistance B40 2021 will be in the BKM system for cross-checking if they qualify for BKM.
This also applies to those who did not qualify for BPR last year because they were getting the Prihatin special grants.
Additionally, data from other government agencies, including e-Kasih, assistance from the Social Welfare Department, public housing and people’s housing projects under Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) and the Housing and Local Government Ministry will be added into the BKM database.
It also includes those under the Orang Asli Development Department, the homeless registered with the Women, Family and Community Development Ministry (KPWKM) and DBKL, single mothers registered with KPWKM, recipients of the Social Security Organisation’s Employment Insurance Scheme, and zakat or Baitulmal recipients in the Klang Valley.
