MIRI – Sarawakians have been told to be prepared for strong winds and intense rain within the next 48 hours.
The Meteorological Department, in its latest alert on social media, said the turbulent weather may persist until next week, occurring daily in most parts of the southern and central districts of the state until January 20.
It said that satellite images today are showing heavy clouds and winds moving towards the state from the South China Sea.
These can hit the coastal areas hard.
“The weather conditions will bring strong winds, and torrential continuous rain over Sarawak and Sabah.
“In the South China Sea off Sarawak, the waves will be turbulent and high,” the department warned.
The Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department today shared these latest weather updates on their social media.
The Fisheries Department has also issued similar warnings to fishermen associations.
