KUALA LUMPUR – Thaipusam festivities at Batu Caves this year witnessed a surprise blessing when a woman gave birth to a baby girl in a car just outside the Sri Subramaniar Temple earlier today.
With individuals from various backgrounds gathering around to assist the Malay lady, the touching moment displayed the true Malaysian spirit of unity and proved that blessings can come in many forms.
In a Facebook post, Makkal Osai reporter LK Savantharaja detailed how, as he was heading to the temple to perform his prayers, he heard the woman crying for help from a car nearby.
When they ran over to the car, they were greeted by the sight of a woman midway through labour and her distraught husband by her side.
Acting on instinct, Savantharaja said that he and a few other devotees covered the windscreen of the car with pieces of cloth given to them by men who were walking to the temple to fulfil their vows.
Referring to the lady as “kakak” (older sister), the Good Samaritan added that several women guided the lady through the birthing process while he searched for a knife, which was then used to sever the baby’s umbilical cord.
“Everyone who came over to help wished the best and gave blessings to both mother and baby.
“I kept on telling the kakak that she and her baby are blessed,” he said, noting that an ambulance arrived on the scene right after the baby was born. – The Vibes, January 18, 2021
