MIRI – A primary school in the remote Tinjar sub-district in northern Sarawak is seeing waters rising fast this morning after a bout of heavy rain.
SK Kuala Bok has seen waters of about 0.5m deep, flooding the school compound and classrooms on the ground floor.
The Sarawak Public Communications Unit today said it has been raining heavily in Tinjar.
Affected pupils have been moved to the upper floor of the double-storey building.
The school has about 500 pupils from nearby villages and longhouses.
Tinjar is about 100km inland from Miri city.
The unit said the rainy weather appears to persist in the Tinjar area.
Other than Tinjar, Sarawak is seeing flash floods in several other districts such as Limbang, Sibu, and Bintulu. – The Vibes, January 21, 2022
