[UPDATED] MySejahtera to implement vax appointment booking system for children aged 5 to 12

KUALA LUMPUR – MySejahtera will introduce a booking system for vaccination appointments for those aged five to 12, said the Health Ministry.

Parents and guardians will have to update their app, add their children as dependents, and follow the appointment booking link given, said Deputy Health Minister I Dr Noor Azmi Ghazali.

During a press conference, he said so far 484,639 children aged between five and 12 have been registered on the app, and the new feature will allow parents to set appointments accordingly.

“Through this method, parents and guardians can select vaccination centres and times that are appropriate for their children.”

He said the ministry is inviting the parents and guardians who reside in the Klang Valley to set the appointments soon.

He added that the system will be expanded to other states in the near future.

The system, he said, will be uploaded on the Google Play Store today and could be accessed “very soon”, adding that once available, parents should update their MySejahtera applications.

He said the children can be registered as dependents and that those residing in Klang Valley will receive a notification for appointments.

“I would also like to invite children’s specialists in the private sector to take part in the (Covid-19 Immunisation Programme for Children) PICKids through ProtectHealth Corp if they are not involved in the programme.

“The vaccination programme for all age groups in the community is important to allow Malaysia to enter the endemic phase and fully recover from the Covid-19 pandemic.”

He said the government also urged all parents and guardians to take part in the programme to ensure the well-being of their families, as well as the nation.

Azmi said the first batch of the Comirnaty 10mcg Concentrate for Dispersion (Pfizer-BioNTech) mRNA vaccines to be used for children will arrive tomorrow.

The vaccines will be sent to 52 Ultra Low-Temperature Freezers around the country, and inoculations will start on February 3.

“I wish to stress that Covid-19 vaccines for children are safe and effective. This is supported by statements issued by the College of Paediatrics of the Academy of Medicine Malaysia on January 20.”

Azmi said an estimated four million children in the age group are eligible to receive the vaccine.

He added that injections in the Klang Valley will be done in hospitals for children with health complications, while those who are healthy will have appointments at integrated vaccination centres. – The Vibes, January 27, 2022
