KUALA LUMPUR – Plantation Industries and Commodity Minister Datuk Zuraida Kamaruddin has reportedly been kicked out of the Bersatu supreme council members’ WhatsApp group.
According to Utusan Online, an unnamed source had informed the agency that the WhatsApp group now devoid of Zuraida’s presence consists of more than 30 council members, including party president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.
“She was removed from the group so that she will no longer be privy to party secrets,” the source said, adding that the removal happened the day after the supreme council had met.
“Everyone who attended the meeting agreed with the decision to remove her (Zuraida) from the WhatsApp group because we are not interested in members who are not loyal to the party,” Utusan Online quoted the source as saying.
Speaking to The Vibes in an exclusive interview, Zuraida had already dismissed rumours of her leaving the party, claiming that she is on good terms with Muhyiddin.
“Of course, we are on very good terms. I have no idea why I am being attacked in my own party.
“There has been nothing official (coming) from the party. Loads of sources are saying otherwise, but nothing has been communicated to me, officially or unofficially.
“I am observing all the reports,” she said, adding that certain individuals should stop playing up party politics when the country needs to continue its recovery.
The Ampang MP has been reportedly linked to the newly formed Parti Bangsa Malaysia (PBM) following a group of Bersatu members – who are mostly supporters of the three-term MP – joining the said party.
Besides that, Utusan Online also reported that International Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali had reiterated his support towards Muhyiddin’s leadership.
“Although no one had questioned him, he (Azmin) had stated his loyalty not once, but three times.
“He had openly declared his support for Bersatu during the recent supreme council meeting and denied having any political involvement with Zuraida.
“His assertions were directed towards those who had reservations about his intentions in joining Bersatu, as everyone is aware that he was once from PKR,” the source was quoted as saying. – The Vibes, February 4, 2022
