KUALA LUMPUR – Pakatan Harapan Youth chief Howard Lee lambasted Umno Supreme Council member Datuk Seri Mohd Puad Zarkashi as an “old” and “defensive donkey”, after the veteran politician accused the opposition of riding on the coattails of youth-led Muda for the upcoming Johor polls.

Lee, who is also DAP Youth chief, said Umno politicians such as Puad were afraid of the collaboration between PH and Muda, which made Umno “uneasy” and “bitter” as the opposition is able to collaborate with youth parties and leaders.

“What’s weird is why is this old Umno donkey, who seemingly wants to say that PH youths have failed, etc, (did not ask) ‘where is the Umno youth leadership?’” Lee asked in a tweet.

“Have they (Umno Youth) failed so much that you (Puad) have to back them up yourself?”

According to Malaysiakini, Puad said PH was riding on Muda’s image in giving in to the youth party’s demands to contest in the state election on March 12.

“DAP, Amanah, and PKR are doing this to appear young. That is why they are willing to give nine seats to Muda.

“It is also an admission that the PH Youth wings, such as PKR Youth and DAP Youth, have failed.”

Yesterday, DAP and Amanah said they agreed to give way to Muda to contest in six Johor seats, while PKR had offered another three constituencies for Muda to contest.

Lee hit back at Umno and Puad, saying that it took many years for any Umno youth member to become representatives, which was not a culture in the opposition.

“If PH’s cooperation with Muda is considered a failure, the cooperation between Umno, PAS, and Bersatu is also a failure because so many Malay parties have mushroomed,” Lee said.

“Logically, if there are so many Malay parties, it shows that Umno has failed to uphold the well-being of Malays.

“We in PH have our own culture for the sake of the people, fresh and mature politics, and through a united front guided by the people with youth at the forefront and in the mainstream.” – The Vibes, February 10, 2022
