JOHOR BARU – Pejuang president Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir has announced that the party will contest in 42 out of the 56 seats for the upcoming Johor polls.

Speaking to the press after Pejuang’s election machinery launch in Taman Universiti here, Mukhriz also clarified that the party will be heading to the polls ‘solo’.

When asked by reporters if a multi-cornered fight may see Barisan Nasional benefiting, Mukhriz said that it is crucial for Johoreans to come out to vote to ensure a high turnout.

“That’s why the media must also play its role and encourage voters to come out on polling day,” he said.

Touching on Pakatan Harapan’s (PH) “Big Tent” strategy, Mukhriz said he is not buying it, given that the coalition has signed an MoU with the ruling government.

It appears, Mukhriz opined, as if PH is conspiring with the government.

“Wherever there are kleptocrats, we are not there,” Mukhriz said.

One of the strategies Pejuang will employ for the Johor polls, according to Mukhriz, would be to convince fence-sitters in the state.

“There are individuals who are on the fence, who haven’t made a decision.

“If we can convince them to vote for us, God willing, Pejuang can win.” – The Vibes, February 10, 2022
