JOHOR BARU – PKR considered the issue of seat negotiations with Muda as resolved and will focus on ensuring its candidates prevail in the Johor election.
Johor PKR chairman Syed Ibrahim Syed Noh, however, hoped that Muda would be open and focus on the six seats it will be contesting in the state polls.
“We cooperate, Muda cooperates in terms of seats with Pakatan Harapan (PH) through DAP and Amanah. We are part of PH, so there is no need to say ‘if we can’t negotiate, then we will fight’.
“I think that’s the wrong attitude...there must be a gentleman’s understanding,” he told reporters after the announcement of PKR Central and East zone candidates at Dewan Serbaguna Kampung Kopok Baru, Pasir Gudang here yesterday.
He was commenting on a statement by Muda president Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman on Friday that official negotiations between the two parties ended when PKR announced all of its 20 candidates.
Syed Saddiq also seemed to allude to the possibility of overlapping seats after failing to reach an agreement with PKR.
PKR yesterday announced all 20 of its candidates who will be contesting in the coming state polls.
The Election Commission has set March 12 as polling day with the nomination of candidates on February 26. Early voting will take place on March 8. – Bernama, February 20, 2022
