MIRI – A 10-year-old girl had died of Covid-19 in her house in Sibu district, making her the latest Covid-19 fatality in Sarawak.

The state’s Disaster Management Committee today said the girl had no record of any other illness.

“She died on February 17 and was brought in dead to Sibu Hospital.

“Today, test results showed that she was confirmed to have died of Covid-19,” the committee secretariat said in a press statement.

483 new infections statewide were recorded today, with six in serious condition.

Kuching district recorded 173 new cases, followed by Miri (91), Sibu (80), and several districts having a few dozen cases each.

Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Dr Sim Kui Hian had earlier today said that the Omicron spread in Sarawak is more serious than what has been officially reported. – The Vibes, February 26, 2022
