JOHOR BARU – Pakatan Harapan’s (PH) candidate for the Perling state seat and Johor DAP chairman Liew Chin Tong has laid out five action plans to resolve issues faced by the constituency and southern Johor.

Among the five action plans, it urged for the safe and immediate reopening of the Johor-Singapore border through the Covid-19 ‘test and release’ measure.

According to Liew, those who test negative should be allowed in without undergoing quarantine.

“The Vaccinated Travel Lane should also be extended to personal vehicles such as cars and motorcycles, instead of confining it to buses and flights only,” he said at a press conference held at his office in Taman Nusa Bestari, here, today.

Also present were PH candidates for Johor Jaya and Stulang, Liow Cai Tung and Andrew Chen Kah Eng respectively, along with the MP for Bangi, Ong Kian Ming.

Liew said the price of goods in southern Johor is almost the same as that in Klang Valley, but the wage level is much lower and as such, reopening the border may alleviate economic problems in southern Johor.

Other action plans laid out by Liew include providing better jobs, pay and business ecosystem, solving public transport and housing issues, and to strive for better urban planning, flood mitigation and environment.

Apart from Liew, the other candidates for the Perling state seat in the Johor election are Barisan Nasional’s Tan Hiang Kee and Koo Shiaw Lee from Perikatan Nasional. – Bernama, March 2, 2022
